From The Tee Very easy opener where the only complication is from the high (1st) tee when the wind gets up. In this case it's worth considering punching in with a long iron to keep the ball down below the wind.
From The Fairway With little run from the fairway, this plays much longer than its 370 or so yards would suggest. The ideal shape is right-to-left with the driver following the line of the fairway. Then it's a fairly straightforward mid-iron to the green.
From The Tee This hole is proof that bigger isn't always better. For the handicap player or beginner it's an 8-iron just short of the water and another one onto the green. However, the lower-handicap player MUST go for it and needs to carry the ball the best part of 200 yards preferably with a right to left shape to avoid the huge oak on the left and out-of-bounds down the right.
From The Tee The hardest par 3 on the course demands a long-iron ideally with right to left shape to thread between water on the left and a bunker guarding the right side. Heavy rough awaits the coward that bails out down the right!
From The Tee Ok, it's not really a par 5, but remember the Newton course is our introductory course and its a mighty blow in two uphill shots even for a low handicap player. The tee shot is best played with a left to right flight and most of the trouble is down the right.

From The Fairway The sensible way to play this is a mid-iron down the left side of the fairway and another one over the embankment followed by a short chip. The really big hitter can cut the corner and go straight across the embankment leaving themselves a short shot and a chance for eagle.
From The Tee The dogleg here is quite short so there's a lot to be gained cutting the corner - you just need to be sure of your distance and know the line to take given that distance..
